There are many Global Healthcare providers and not all are created equal. When choosing a provider, ask yourself several questions:
Does the company you are considering actually provide the healthcare services?
There are many global healthcare providers with a range of services, including third party facilitators who simply coordinate medical and travel arrangements. While most are highly reputable and offer excellent service, AHI is unique in that it is both the provider AND organizer. As such, we maintain strict control over the quality of healthcare services you receive and the physicians who will perform your procedures. At the same time, we offer a comprehensive, door-to-door global healthcare package that includes everything from coordinating your procedure and travel to providing in-house financing for the entire experience.
Are the physicians performing your procedure Board Certified in the United States?
Board certification is an immediate indication that the surgeon has completed a fellowship and passed a stringent board exam. You should be relieved to know that when you decide to let us take care of you, you will be in the hands of some of the best surgeons in the United States.
How many such procedures has the physician performed?
Many Global Healthcare providers have “board certified” surgeons, but in the country in which they reside, they may not perform a significant number of these surgeries per year. Always ask the question, and be assured that with active practices in the US, AHI surgeons will give you an answer that will leave you confident.
Is the hospital built and operated to stringent health code standards?
The Joint Commission International Association (JCIA) ensures the quality of healthcare facilities worldwide. All AHI facilities are built and operated in accordance with JCIA standards.
How close are the global healthcare destinations and what affect will this have on my health?
When evaluating global healthcare as a surgery option, travel time is an important consideration. Long airline flights—particularly those greater than six hours and also those following surgery—may increase the risk of developing arterial thrombosis. With this condition, blood clots form in the legs, potentially blocking blood flow to the heart. In addition, extended time away from home will increase the cost of your experience and keep you away from family and work.
Our hospital in Mazatlan, Mexico is less than 4 hours flight from most US destinations. Our coming Dominican Republic hospital is close to the US as well. There are other global healthcare destinations that offer a larger savings. However, most of these providers are 18 to 24 hour flights from the US. By travelling so far for surgery, you will be required to stay an additional 2 to 3 weeks due to clinical/health risks. Our hospital locations are within a safe travel distance to return home immediately after your surgery or hospital stay.

What is your true cost savings?
When you price a Global Healthcare experience, does it include the hospital fee, surgeon fee, anesthesiologist fee, implant fee (if any), diagnostic or pre-operative tests, flight costs, hotel costs, cost of follow-up care, and malpractice insurance? At AHI hospitals, you can have the same procedure performed at 40 – 60 % savings over the same procedure performed in the United States. And when you receive your final package quote, it will include everything.
Does the company offer insurance and financing options?
AHI will work closely with you to determine if you have coverage through your existing healthcare insurance policy. If not, or if your out-of-pocket expenses are high, AHI has relationships with several reputable medical financing companies and even offers its own financing package.
